The government will provide support for the next three months to farmers affected by heavy rainfall, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman said in parliament on Wednesday. He made the announcement while responding to a question from Sunamganj-5 lawmaker Kalim Uddin Ahmed during the 24th sitting of the first session of the 13th National Parliament.
The prime minister said local administrations in three haor districts had already been instructed to take necessary steps based on weather forecasts. He also said farmers in the affected districts, along with some parts of Mymensingh facing severe rainfall-related problems, will be identified and brought under support measures.
