The European Union has announced 175,000 euros in financial support for Bangladesh to help prevent measles, an amount equal to nearly Tk 2.5 crore in local currency. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the EU said the money will be provided directly to the Red Cross.
The support will go to families struggling with treatment costs after measles infections, while also strengthening ongoing vaccination efforts. People in Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh are expected to benefit. The funding will also be used for prevention measures, health supplies, and cash support for vulnerable families facing travel costs or income losses linked to the disease.
