The government plans to plant 500,000 trees in Dhaka over the next five years as part of a broader effort to turn the capital into a clean and green city. Prime Minister Tareq Rahman announced the plan on Wednesday during a question-and-answer session in parliament.
He said the initiative will be carried out through Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporations under the Local Government Division. Alongside the tree plantation drive, the government is also stepping up public awareness campaigns, special cleanliness operations, mosquito control measures, greener waste management, and urban forestry in different parts of the capital.
