The government on 6 August gave in-principle approval to directly procure 200 electric buses for the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation.
The government-funded proposal was submitted by the Road Transport and Highways Division and will be implemented without inviting tenders.
The project also includes the installation of charging stations and the construction of related infrastructure through direct procurement. The new fleet will include buses designated for women passengers.
