Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to sign an aircraft purchase agreement with US manufacturer Boeing on Thursday evening at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka. According to the report, the deal will cover 14 new aircraft and is expected to mark the national flag carrier’s biggest fleet expansion move in its modern history.
Under the proposed agreement, Biman will buy eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and four Boeing 737-8 Max jets for about $3.7 billion, or around Tk 37,000 crore. Officials said the decision was taken to modernize the fleet, meet rising passenger demand and strengthen capacity on long-haul as well as regional routes.
