Dhaka South to deply 10,000 cleaners and modern equipment for Swift Eid Waste Cleanup

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has mobilized a massive cleanup operation to manage sacrificial animal waste within 12 hours during Eid-ul-Azha. At a Thursday press briefing at National Eidgah Maidan, DSCC Administrator Md Shahjahan Mia outlined plans to deploy 10,267 cleaners and a fleet of modern equipment, including:
- 207 dump trucks, 200 mini trucks, and 44 compactors
- 39 container carriers, 16 pay-loaders, and 9 water truck
- Bulldozers, excavators, and disinfectant sprayers
The corporation aims to clear 30,000 tons of waste from all 75 wards between 3 PM on Eid day and 3 AM the next morning. To support residents, DSCC has distributed:
- 140,000 biodegradable bags
- 40 tons of bleaching powder
- 222 gallons of Savlon
Authorities urged citizens to use designated disposal materials and cooperate to ensure a hygienic post-Eid environment.
