Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) in the northern region, has raised questions about the cancellation of the freedom fighter recognition of Tajuddin Ahmed, the Prime Minister of the Mujibnagar Government. On Wednesday, he expressed his reaction through a post on his verified Facebook account.

In his post, Sarjis pointed out, “Despite Sheikh Mujibur Rahman being imprisoned in Pakistan throughout the entire Liberation War, his recognition as a freedom fighter remains intact. Yet, Tajuddin Ahmed, who led the war from the ground, has had his recognition revoked, how is this justified?”

He questioned the authorities, “Instead of removing fake freedom fighters who fraudulently obtained benefits during the Awami League’s tenure, why are genuine organizers being excluded from the list?” The NCP leader emphasized, “History should not be altered to suit the interests of those in power. The true history of the Liberation War must be preserved.”
