Days after Inter Milan’s Champions League final defeat, Simone Inzaghi has been appointed head coach of Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. The 49-year-old Italian, who won one Serie A title and two Coppa Italias with Inter, was unveiled in a stylish social media announcement.

Inzaghi becomes the latest high-profile addition to Saudi football’s ambitious project, joining Al Hilal’s star-filled squad featuring Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic. The club, which recently released Neymar, could reportedly target Cristiano Ronaldo next.

His first challenge comes quickly – leading Al Hilal in the expanded Club World Cup starting June 15, where they’ll face Europe’s elite clubs. The move strengthens Saudi Arabia’s football profile ahead of hosting the 2034 World Cup.
